Developement diary

This is a brief summary of what the entire process of creating our video game "Balloon" has been.

 

The beginning was to generate a brainstorm of what could be the basis of our video game, there was some ideas like a survival game or a 3D plataformer, but we ended up with this idea of party game because of the originality and creative concept of this game, this is where Balloon was born

In second place would be the creation of the logo of our team, Samurai Studios and consequently the study, there has been different types of logo, from a dragon, icons of the japanese culture, etc... but we ended up with a ghost shiba

Once we had the general idea of the game we began to think about types and styles of characters and began to design them, as you can se below the text, there was different types of characters, geometrical, simple or more realistic, we ended up with a cartoon style of the characters with "flying hands" to make the work of animation more simple and more iconic

As we can see below, this is the process that we have been working towards the characters, the ideas, the concepts, the desings, reworks and finally the modeling and texture

We began the year, and so, our work restarted...

We were working finishing the characters that would represent the players, and with that their respective animations. 

Then, we started working on the desing and the utility of the different item that the players would get trought the game, the ones that we finished during this timeline are:

-The Plank
-The "Shot-Coke"

-The Cactus
-The "Toothy Mouth"

-The Dragon Egg

Each weapon has different behaviours and utilities, some of them can only be use near the players, and other can be used far away

In mid January, the developing of the playable test started, we implemented the basics like the character movement, the limits of the game and the obstacles, some time later the health system and the interaction with the obtacles, adding balloons that allows the player regain health

And finally the user interface when opens up the game, can access to the options and pause the game

Thats for the programers part, now for the trailer

We made the trailer fully animated, showing the different things that the players can do during the game, like dodge obstacles, get items, and attack the other players, introducing the winning scene with the respective character that the player has been using
